About Me

Hey there, I'm Marcus van der Munnik, the creator of Munnica.

I'm an indie game developer, author, and lifelong gamer who enjoys building games just as much as helping other developers build theirs. Whether you're here to follow one of my projects, learn something new about Unity, or simply browse around, I'm glad you stopped by.

My passion for games started back in 1987, when I got my first Nintendo with Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt. Like many developers, I began as a player. Thousands of games later, I'm still fascinated by what makes a game memorable. Sometimes it's innovative mechanics, sometimes it's great storytelling, and sometimes it's simply because a game is ridiculously fun to play.

I've always been drawn to programming and game design, but for a long time creating my own games felt out of reach. The tools simply weren't there yet. Once modern game engines became accessible, everything changed. Suddenly, the ideas that had been sitting in my head for years could become real, playable experiences. That was the moment I knew this was what I wanted to do.

Today I develop games using Unity and share the journey here on Munnica. I write about the successes, the mistakes, the technical challenges, and the lessons I learn along the way. I believe game development is one of those fields where you never stop learning, no matter how many years you've been doing it.

Besides developing games, I also create tutorials, write articles, and publish books for aspiring indie developers. One thing I've noticed over the years is that many programming and Unity concepts are actually much simpler than they're often made to seem. My goal is to explain those topics in a practical, straightforward way, without unnecessary jargon or overcomplicating things.

At the end of the day, I simply enjoy creating, whether that's making a new game, solving an interesting programming problem, writing an article that helps another developer, or sharing something I've learned through experience.

Thanks for visiting Munnica, and I hope you find something here that inspires you to build your own games.

Keep creating, and keep playing!

~ Marcus
